This is from designer Marc Graells Ballve, and, as you may have guessed, it is some anti-theft device for scooters.
Clearly, the designer gets his inspiration from nature with the armadillo as the armor can retract like that animal’s armor.
I have no idea how heavy this armor is, but it looks pretty light, almost like plastic. I’m guessing that it requires some sort of lock at the bottom so the shell is secure. Read the rest of this entry »
I remember jamming an adapter into my tape deck years ago to make it possible to play CDs in my beat up first car. Of course I had the really bad portable CD player, the one that whenever you hit a bump it made the song skip. Now if you own a car that doesn’t have a CD player, you can still use that old tape deck for good. Just plug in the iDeck and instead of tapes you’ll be listening to your iPod as you go down the road. Luckily unlike the very old portable CD players you won’t have to worry about your driving causing the music to skip.
I’d say that this isn’t likely to get picked up by a whole lot of iPod users, since surely they’d have a better stereo in their car that wouldn’t require this. However, my 1999 vehicle has only a tape deck, the thing doesn’t even have a CD player, so I understand the need. If you want to pick up one it’ll cost you $39.99 through Amazon.
I suppose that as a parent, I am proud of what my children can do. I’ve found that once they learn to walk and talk, they start doing things that are impressive to them but mundane to us. For example, standing on one foot.
Sure, we humans can probably stand on the left or right leg interchangeably without even thinking about it, so you might not think it too impressive that we have a robot that can do the same thing. Read the rest of this entry »
We’ve reported on a lot of ThrustMaster gaming accessories before, like the skateboarding controller and some Nintendo DS products.
This stylus could be one of the biggest around. That’s right, that is what you are seeing here, a stylus for the Nintendo DS, not a flashlight.
However, what you are seeing is true about the projection of Buzz Lightyear on the wall. I’m sure this is a definite tie-in with the release of Toy Story 3, which I believe is sometime in June. I’ve seen the preview, and this is the one where Buzz goes back to his “I actually think I’m the real Buzz Lightyear”, but he is in Spanish. Just watch it if you don’t believe me. My Source states that this Roller Buggy could be a bad idea, and I’m not certain. As someone who has a lot of log time pushing a baby or two around in a stroller, I could use something to make it easier.
I guess the worry is that having an adult parent scoot their baby about brings up a lot of safety issues. I suppose that is why this is a concept for now.
I mean, they have those streamlined strollers with the three wheels that go along with the fluid motion of a bicycle. Why not combine a baby stroller, which usually are with clunky big wheels, into something like a skateboard? Read the rest of this entry »

If you liked the old iMac monitors then you’ll love this speaker stand. It looks a whole lot like the stand those monitors used to sit on. It’s a quirky design and in some ways a little bit unnecessary, but if you’re a little nostalgic about your iMac then it’s a good way to keep it on your mind. Plus it plays your music out loud.
This does come through Chinavasion, which always makes me at least pause to wonder how great the quality is on the devices they sell. They are a great way to get gadgets that those of us in the US might not have normally been able to purchase though. The docking station has a 12W audio output and can accommodate either an iPod or an iPhone. You can purchase it for $41.07.
I know what this looks like. You’re probably thinking that: “Oh no, it is a Star Wars/Terminator/Matrix/Battlestar Galactica/any other science fiction franchise robot that is designed to take out enemies. Are the humans its next target?”
Actually, from what I have been reading from my sources, this robot, also known as “Pincher” is designed to disable Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) from a long distance. It apparently uses rockets the size of pencils to destroy the explosive charges, which will make them burn, not explode in a process known as “deflageration”. Read the rest of this entry »

I remember back in 1987, I had a chance to go on Star Tours at Disneyland. I had to wait almost two hours, and it was quite an experience.
I would imagine that after twenty years, the effects of Star Tours would look pretty mediocre in the era of CG effects.
It would appear that Disney feels the same way as they are planning on giving Star Tours an update. Read the rest of this entry »
Are you ready for the next superphone? Just what makes a phone “super” in the first place, you ask? Well, HTC’s EVO 4G fits the bill perfectly – after all, it is the first 4G smartphone in North America, and the good folks over at RadioShack are more than willing to roll out one of these puppies to you, where it will remain a Sprint-exclusive device at the moment.
RadioShack customers who are interested will be able to place a pre-order of this exciting new device at any one of more than 4,000 RadioShack stores from May 14th onwards, so if you haven’t done so already, what’s keeping you? After all, it offers far superior hardware compared to the Google Nexus One which was dubbed a superphone by the Big G themselves, so why not check out the hardware specifications right after the jump before taking the plunge?
If you are interested in placing a pre-order, you can do so by picking up a $50 RadioShack gift card that can be applied toward the purchase price of the device, while scheduling an appointment to pick up and activate the device. Read the rest of this entry »
